30-Day Song Challenge - Day 1

Vous connaissez sans doute déjà le principe, mais j'ai eu envie de me prêter à ce jeu qui implique de parler d'une chanson tous les jours pendant 30 jours (en plus que cela va me forcer à bloguer de nouveau!). Aujourd'hui, c'est "Ma chanson favorite".

Maybe you already know the drill, but I thought it would be interesting to participate in this "game" where you talk about a song every day for a month (besides, it will force me to write with more regularity). Today, the theme is "My favorite song".

DAY 1 : Utada Hikaru - Passion

 Au début, je ne pouvais pas supporter cette chanson, mais tout a changé quand j'ai lu les paroles pour la première fois. J'ai été surpris par la profondeur des paroles et par le talent d'Utada en tant que parolière. Pour moi, cette chanson parle de la séparation d'avec un être cher; on se demande ce qu'il devient, s'il se souvient de nous. Évidemment, on chérit les souvenirs que nous avons de cette personne, mais on sait au plus profond de soi qu'on ne la reverra jamais, et c'est très douloureux. C'est une chanson très nostalgique, et Utada Hikaru évoque ce sentiment grâce à sa voix et à sa musique. C'est pour ces raisons que je peux dire que "Passion" est ma chanson favorite.

At first, I couldn't stand this song at all, but everything changed when I read the lyrics for the first time. I was astonished by the depth of this song and the talent of Utada as a writer. For me, this song is about being separated from a very important person, wondering what they are doing and if they remember us as well. You, of course, cherish the memories of your time together, but you know you will never see this person again, and that is painful. It's very nostalgic, and Utada Hikaru conveys this feeling with her voice and her music. That is why "Passion" is my favorite song.
